Following the privatisation of the railway network, Railtrack commenced an investment programme in the fleet of wagons used for track renewal work, bringing increased capacities and greater use of automation.
This process subsequently continued under Network Rail and the freight companies and now, some 25 years later, is largely complete.
This publication will look at all the types used for ballast, sleeper and rail carrying over this period along with their operations and train formations.
How to model many of the diverse vehicles will also be described in detail across at least two scales.
